In
August 2002 the Southern Cross Transit was purchased by the
family of the late John Oliveri, who has operated buses in Campbelltown
and Liverpool, NSW, south west of Sydney, for over 54 years.
Frank
Oliveri, Director of Operations, for the group moved to Queensland
and is running the business from the depot at Karalee.
Wally
Horwood founded Southern Cross Transit in 1980 when he moved
his whole family and all their possessions from New South Wales
in an old bus he purchased with his life savings to Brisbane's
Western suburbs. After emptying the bus of all their possesions
(including the kitchen sink!), he virtually immediately commenced
operating the bus on school and charter services.
