After receiving a call from a concerned parent about the closure of Junction Road, near Mitchell St, we contacted Ipswich City Council to ascertain what in fact is happening as we had no idea of this closure. Whilst they were very apologetic for their lack of consultation with us, they did NOT offer any further detailed information or confirmation.
At 1242 this afternoon, Monday 13th May, we received an email from Translink confirming the closure will be effective from midnight tonight to midnight Sunday 25th May. Given that it would be virtually impossible to advise all school communities of the route changes, we strongly objected to the short notice and subsequently, the closure will now be effective from:
Midnight Sunday 19th May till midnight Sunday 2nd June
All Southern Cross Transit Karalee services that would normally use this section of Junction Road, will now divert as per the detour that will be in place CLICK HERE TO SEE MAP
